Boys win third straight
The Raider boys basketball team kicked off the new year with an 83-66 Big Rivers Conference victory over Menomonie Friday, Jan. 5, for its third straight win.
Fresh off a pair of victories at a holiday tournament in Wisconsin Dells over the break, the Raiders held the Mustangs to 30 second half-points after taking a 44-36 lead at the break on their way to improving to 5-6 overall, 2-2 in BRC play.
Keyser Helterbrand led three Raiders in double figures with 25 points while Jacob Daulton added 18 and Landon Bilse scored 16 as Hudson cracked the 80-point mark for the second straight game and fourth time this season.
Paul Sparstad came one point short of reaching double digits with nine points and Charlie Neuenschwander scored eight while Mateo Renta had three and Luke Healy and Carter Herink scored two apiece.
Jake Ebert led the Mustangs (0-11, 0-5) with 16.
The Raiders will continue BRC play this week with a road game at Rice Lake (8-2, 2-2) Tuesday, Jan. 9 and a home matchup with Eau Claire Memorial (5-5, 2-2) Friday, Jan. 12. They will host Superior in a nonconference game Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 7:15 p.m.
