Boys hoops falls at Menomonie

Keyser Helterbrand and Jacob Daulton combined for 53 points but the rest of the Raiders scored just seven in a 70-60 Big Rivers Conference loss at Menomonie Friday, Feb. 9.

It was the second straight BRC win for the Mustangs after losing their first nine conference games. Hudson slipped to 4-6 in BRC play, 8-11 overall, heading into a home game against Rice Lake (6-4, 13-5) Thursday, Feb. 15.

The Raiders fell behind 10-0 before getting a pair of free throws for their first points of the game three minutes in. Helterbrand keyed a 10-4 Raider run to cut the Mustang lead to 34-30 late in the first half but the Mustangs took a 38-33 lead into the break.

Hudson was able to tie the score, 54-54, but a 12-6 Menomonie run put the Mustangs up by eight with just over a minute remaining and they sealed it from the free throw line.

Helterbrand led all scorers with 33 points and Daulton scored 20 but the only other Raider points were four from Landon Bilse and three from Luke Healy.

Following Thursday's home game against Rice Lake the Raiders will host Minnetonka in a nonconferene game Tuesday, Feb. 20, before wrapping up the regular season at Eau Claire Memorial (5-5, 8-10) Thursday, Feb. 22.
